Adult Education is an immense field that can be divided into dozens of sub-fields. As a registered career college in Ontario, this Certificate is a Post-Secondary academic credential. The Certificate in Adult Education program is comprised of four compulsory full credits 40 hours each and two elective half credits 20 hours each for total of 5 credits hours online learning in total.
Durham College Certificate. Your first course will be Adult Learning. You will begin your studies by exploring the nature of adult learners, their learning styles, needs and characteristics, and analyze what makes teachers effective.
This program is designed for those individuals who plan, administer, and deliver training and education to adults in the workplace, in non profit organizations, in college settings, and in educational institutions. It is of interest to those considering new career possibilities in positions involving the training, education, and professional development of adults. The curriculum is practical and theoretical so that the student is exposed to different learning contexts and methodologies, and the practicalities involved with program assessment, planning, development, delivery and evaluation.
Intended for individuals wanting to enhance their skills and abilities required to teach or train the adult learner. Learn how to facilitate effective program planning, design meaningful assessment and evaluation tools, achieve good instructional and teaching skills. Other areas covered are the various processes that will assist adults to pursue learning in various formats, educational issues reflecting current thinking and learner concerns, plus meeting the specific needs of adults with learning challenges, and skills for instructing in non-traditional environments. This will be accomplished by assignments, group projects and quizzes.
