The Fender Musical Instruments Corporation has continuously manufactured the Stratocaster from to the present. It is a double- cutaway guitar, with an extended top "horn" shape for balance like the Precision base guitar. Featuring one of the nicest three colour Sunbursts I've ever seen, and the combo of Vintage Pickguard and Maple Fretboard with some lovely grain, is this US15 American Special Strat that has American Std Pickups and has been upgraded with the top of the range Warmoth Alder body with great figuring, which cost huge money I have paperwork and they are well regarded as top line bodies. It has excellent frets and shows little evidence of play wear, but has a few paint chips, as these come with. You know when you buy a guitar cos you have GAS, but just never bond?
You read the story of this particular guitar on p45, but the short version is that since rolling out of the Fender factory in Fullerton inthis Olympic White Strat has had just two owners — it took early retirement in and has remained with the same family ever since. We notice a hardened drop of something that has run down the side of the neck on the treble side of the neck pocket area and on close examination we think that the fingerboard has been varnished at some point. There are some minor divots in the usual playing areas, which is quite commonly seen on vintage guitars. We rarely see this on even heavily played or year-old guitars, so we have to wonder if long fingernails were fashionable back in the 60s, or whether nail clippers were harder to come by.
InLeo Fender started planning a new standard guitar — the Stratocaster. Of course, the new Fender would compete with Gibson and Epiphone professional models. But Leo intended even more.
Fender Stratocaster- A brief history and popular models Fender is an icon of the musical instrument industry and Fender Stratocasters or "strats" are highly collectable. The Stratocaster was first introduced in spring and it's design is often copied.
